Chapter Index

[As long as it’s not a Teddy!]

    Xiao Ai stated calmly.

    Shuang Yu was speechless.

While he was chatting with Xiao Ai, Shi Heng had already dashed up to him. He vaulted over the barrier and, without a word, picked him up and spun him around in circles with the magic of love. If he remembered correctly, they had only been apart for a day. Shuang Yu, with a look of existential crisis, helplessly watched the big boy frolicking with him in his arms.

“That’s enough. Anyone who didn’t know better would think we’re a couple!” he complained with disgust. Heaven could bear witness, there was nothing romantic between them, only a deep brotherly bond, okay?

“Sorry, I was too excited. You really came to pick me up…”

Shi Heng put him down, smiled shyly, and scratched his head.

    “Have you eaten?”

Shuang Yu grabbed the suitcase from the other side of the barrier and slung an arm around his shoulder as they walked out.

“Nope, the airplane food was disgusting…” the latter complained with a wronged expression.

“Let’s go, your big brother will treat you to hotpot,” Shuang Yu said with a smile.

The two got into a taxi and headed straight for their destination. They got a private room, and Shuang Yu ordered a split pot, then handed the menu to Shi Heng. The latter didn’t stand on ceremony and took the pen, ticking off all their favorite ingredients.

“Any progress with your work? It’s almost the end of the month. If you’re short on living expenses, I can lend you some,” Shi Heng asked proactively, knowing he was short on cash.

“The mini-game is already finished. I plan to visit other cities at the end of the month to see if I can find a game company willing to buy it. I have enough money for now, but if I run out, I’ll definitely borrow from you.”

Shuang Yu put some cooked meat into his bowl as he replied.

“Don’t be a stranger. My family isn’t short on money. Oh right, I have good news for you. When I went to the Imperial Capital this time, I mentioned the software you’re making to my mom, and she’s quite interested. She wants me to bring you to the capital sometime to discuss a partnership. Um… I just wanted to help, you’re not mad at me for being nosy, are you?” Shi Heng asked cautiously.

Shuang Yu hadn’t expected him to be so invested in his affairs. Those apps would involve various banks, and if the royal family could get involved, his chances of success would be much higher. Unfortunately, he had other plans for the time being. The bait had been cast, and he was just waiting for the fish to bite.

“Let’s take it one step at a time. Let’s sell the mini-game first. Thanks, though. I owe you another one.”

“As long as you’re not mad at me, hehe. You owe me so many favors, what are you going to do if you can’t pay them back?” Shi Heng asked with a silly grin.

“Pay with my body?” Shuang Yu raised an eyebrow, joking improperly.

The latter’s face instantly turned beet red, like a cooked shrimp.

    “Cough, cough, cough…”

Clearly, his wild words had startled him.

“Dude, you’re too innocent. I was just kidding with you…” Shuang Yu said, handing him the plum juice with an embarrassed look, rendered speechless.

“Wh-who told you to make that kind of joke… I-I almost took it seriously,” Shi Heng mumbled pitifully, coughing until tears came to his eyes.

“If you don’t mind being on the bottom… paying with your body is actually a pretty good option?” Shuang Yu said with a cunning smile.

The latter shivered deeply and was too scared to say another word, just burying his head in his food. It was almost eleven o’clock when the two returned to the dorm. Just as they opened the door, they saw a guilt-ridden Ji Mian.

“Xiao Yu, Shi Heng, you’re back?”

Ji Mian quickly hid his hands behind his back and smiled awkwardly at them. Shuang Yu’s gaze swept over his own slightly ajar room door, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes.

Very good, the fish has taken the bait.

“What are you doing here?” he asked with a slight frown.

“My… my boyfriend lives here, why can’t I be here!” Ji Mian retorted righteously.

“So, where’s Wei Yichen?” Shi Heng raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with inquiry.

“How should I know? That jerk’s phone is off again!” Ji Mian stomped his foot and ran back to Wei Yichen’s room in a huff.

Th-that scared him. He probably wasn’t discovered, right?! Ji Mian pressed his back against the doorframe, patting his chest vigorously. Once his breathing calmed down, he quickly took out the reader he had hidden in his pocket. Thank goodness his father’s company had skilled programmers who easily hacked into Ji Shuangyu’s computer. The programmers had remotely copied all the programs. In a week at most, the company would be able to perfect the software and start internal testing!

Thinking of the empty promises his father had made him, Ji Mian was both excited and thrilled. It wouldn’t be long before he became the son of the richest man!

In the living room, Shi Heng stared at Wei Yichen’s room with a slight frown and said hesitantly to Shuang Yu, “I think something’s off with him. Do you want to check your room?”

His sixth sense was really sharp. Shuang Yu raised an eyebrow and waved his hand dismissively. “You’re overthinking it. I’m broke. What could he possibly steal from me!”

“That’s not necessarily true. You can’t be too careful. If you won’t look, I’ll look for you.”

Shi Heng’s eyes turned a bit cold as he went to push open his door. Finding it unlocked, he turned back with a grave expression. “You didn’t lock your door when you went out today?”

“Um, I was probably in a hurry and forgot,” Shuang Yu shrugged, answering nonchalantly.

The latter frowned slightly and began to think. Ji Shuangyu was someone who valued his privacy greatly. He always locked his door when he went out, so why did he make a mistake today?

“Alright, you’re being too paranoid. With a brain like Ji Mian’s, even if he did something bad, it would be full of holes. Smile, your expression right now is kind of scary.”

Shuang Yu stood up, walked over to Shi Heng, and pinched his cheek with a brilliant smile.

“Liar. You’re not scared of me at all… Yu, we’re good friends. I hope there are no secrets between us, you know what I mean?” Shi Heng sighed and said to him seriously.

Even lovers had secrets, let alone friends. Shuang Yu knew he was very concerned about him, but this was his job, and he didn’t plan on letting outsiders interfere.

“I get it, Mama Shi. Stop frowning. I’m thirsty, I want to drink honey pomelo tea.”

“Then wait a moment, I’ll go make it for you right now.”

The latter immediately ran out eagerly. Shuang Yu shook his head and looked at the lit-up computer case, a cold, somber smile crossing his lips.

Around twelve o’clock, a dejected Wei Yichen returned. When he came back, Shi Heng had just come out of the shower. He was wearing cartoon pajamas and holding a pillow, about to push open Shuang Yu’s door. His tall frame, paired with the cute cotton cartoon pajamas and cartoon slippers, was extremely incongruous. But Wei Yichen wasn’t concerned with the Crown Prince’s attire. He asked with some vigilance, “Your Highness Shi Heng, it’s so late, shouldn’t you avoid disturbing Ji Shuangyu?”

The latter raised an eyebrow, a meaningful smile on his lips. “In what capacity is Viscount Wei questioning me? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were Yu’s lover.”

The word “lover” made Wei Yichen’s heart tremble. It was unclear what he was thinking, but his face turned very pale, and he denied it frantically. “You’re overthinking things. I just feel that Ji Shuangyu is not worthy of you!”
