Chapter Index

Xiao Fang sighed, put on his full armor, and followed everyone inside. The living room was already full of guests. Eldest Aunt Liu Qian’s two younger sisters were there. Fei Yishan was probably in her room and hadn’t come down yet. Then there was a burly man who looked to be in his forties, speaking Mandarin with a thick dialect. He seemed to have said something funny and was laughing loudly without regard for the occasion. In short, he was boisterous. Next to the burly man were the woman who had just entered and that bratty child.

Seeing Fei Xiangnan’s group enter, the grandfather sitting in the middle stood up, his eyes looking expectantly at the great-grandson in Xiao Fang’s arms.

“You’re all here.” Old Master Fei was in a particularly good mood today, and his face was all smiles upon seeing them. Xiao Fang politely greeted him as “Grandpa” and then began to introduce his own grandparents behind him.

Knowing that his great-grandson’s name was to be chosen by his maternal grandfather, Old Master Fei’s expression wasn’t very good. He looked at the other grandfather with a sour face.

“Grandpa, this is my grandma.” Xiao Fang stepped aside to introduce her. The two elders shook hands politely, the process very smooth.

“Grandpa, this is my grandpa.” Xiao Fang introduced his grandfather, and then saw Old Master Fei’s expression change abruptly, taking on a grumpy look. Xiao Fang’s mind raced, and he remembered the source of Old Master Fei’s displeasure. He could only remind him again, “Grandpa, this is my grandpa, Zhuo Deben.”

Old Master Fei’s smugness lasted only a second. Hearing the name Zhuo Deben, his expression suddenly changed. His study still housed a piece of calligraphy that Old Master Zhuo had written twenty years ago, which he had bought at auction for a price close to one hundred million. He had thought he would never get an authentic piece again in his life, but now he was seeing the man in person. Since he had retired twenty years ago, Old Master Fei had sighed with regret for a long time.

“So it’s Old Mister Zhuo!” Old Master Fei’s eyes instantly lit up, a complete transformation from just a moment ago.

Xiao Fang and Fei Xiangnan exchanged a look. It was a good thing Fei Xiangnan had told him in advance that his grandfather was an exceptional admirer of his own grandfather. Otherwise, the two stubborn old men would have definitely started arguing here today.

Seeing his fan, Grandfather didn’t act too proud. In this age of fast-food culture, frankly, he didn’t expect to meet anyone who could chat about calligraphy and painting outside of his small town. A smile appeared on his face as well. “Oh, what ‘Old Mister’? I’m just a decrepit old man. It’s rare that my brushwork is worthy of your appreciation.”

Old Master Fei couldn’t agree with his grandfather’s self-deprecation. His idol was being too modest in front of him. An idol he hadn’t seen in twenty years versus a great-grandson he had only seen for a year—the balance in his heart immediately began to tilt. Xiao Fang immediately had an idea. It wasn’t comfortable for the three elders to be in this situation, so it was better to let them go to the study to chat about calligraphy and painting.

“Grandpa, Grandpa, I see it’s still early for dinner. Why don’t you go to the study and chat? The Full Moon Banquet doesn’t start until tonight, so there’s no rush to see the great-grandson.”

The two old men thought about it and agreed. They didn’t want to stay downstairs and listen to those people being noisy anyway.

Old Master Fei went forward to coo at his grandson, but still prepared to invite his idol upstairs. Grandfather took Grandma and went up with him. As they went up, they could faintly hear Old Master Fei’s excited conversation.

“So this must be Madam Zhuo. The pot of ink orchid you cultivated back then was a masterpiece in the flower and bird world. Alas, I haven’t seen such a graceful orchid in many years. I’ve tried to grow them myself, but I just can’t get the feel for it.”

“Old Mister Fei also likes to grow orchids? That’s perfect. This old lady can take a look for you.”

After settling his grandparents, Xiao Fang felt more relaxed. He had wanted to go to Fei Xiangnan’s room to sit for a while, but President Fei gave him a mysterious look. Xiao Fang got it in a second, a faint sense of excitement rising within him. He took Da Bao and sat down on a sofa with President Fei.

Out of respect for Fei Xiangnan, Eldest Aunt Liu Qian’s two younger sisters greeted them politely. Only the Eldest Aunt snorted coldly and said nothing, but she didn’t add fuel to the fire either. It was clear Fei Yishan had persuaded her.

“I know you! You’re that opera singer on TV! My grandma says you’re a terrible actor!” the child from before pointed at Xiao Fang and shouted. The woman awkwardly grabbed her son’s hand, intending to pretend nothing had happened.

Oh ho, he really dared to say it!

The burly man next to them also pretended not to hear his son, eating the cherries on the table in large mouthfuls and spitting the pits onto the floor next to him instead of into the trash can. He truly had no manners at all.

Xiao Fang listened without getting angry. He even analyzed it rationally. This was a case of parents not wanting to teach, or not being able to teach well. They were handing this difficult problem of a bratty child over to them to educate. Since it was their first time, he hoped everyone present wouldn’t mind.

You like watching a show, right? Then watch to your heart’s content!

Xiao Fang took out a piece of chocolate from his pocket. He often got hungry during his postpartum confinement, so Fei Xiangnan would frequently stuff his pockets with candy and chocolate to tide him over when he was hungry.

“Little friend, big brother has chocolate here. Do you want some?” Xiao Fang said, smiling as he held up the snack. How could a bratty child resist the temptation of chocolate? He jumped off his mother’s lap and was about to snatch it.

“You’re sensible enough. In the future, this great master will consider watching your acting. You should be grateful.”

Just as the bratty child was about to grab the candy, Xiao Fang laughingly raised his hand higher. The bratty child glared at Xiao Fang fiercely and jumped to grab it. Suddenly, a hand from the side quickly and accurately grabbed the bratty child by the neck and slammed him onto the table, pressing him down hard. Half of his face was pressed against the wooden coffee table.

    Bang!

“Ah!” the woman screamed in terror. The man was even about to try and pry Fei Xiangnan’s hand away.

“Do you know what the surname of this family is?” Fei Xiangnan’s low voice was filled with threat. Even though their son started to cry hysterically, the couple didn’t dare take a step forward, their hearts simmering with anger.

Liu Qian and her two sisters were stunned, but then they felt it was normal. That idiot brother of Zhang Yuliu always acted like a big shot whenever he came over. She couldn’t say anything herself, but now that Fei Xiangnan had made a move, she felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction.

“President Fei, he’s just a child, he doesn’t know any better. Please don’t take it to heart. We’re all relatives. Yi Yi is only five years old. Please don’t stoop to a child’s level.” The woman resorted to the classic excuse of parents of bratty children: the child is young and doesn’t know better, so you, as an adult, should be lenient.

    “Mommy, Daddy, it hurts! Boo-hoo.”

But all of this was nonsense in Fei Xiangnan’s eyes. He couldn’t care less about these tired excuses.

“In my eyes, Xiao Fang is still a baby, yet you all seem to be quite bothered by him,” Old Rogue Fei retorted shamelessly.

Xiao Fang secretly covered his face. He wasn’t a baby! Ahem, so improper!

He handed Da Bao to the nanny and joined his old husband in teaching the bratty child a lesson.

Xiao Fang still had that same smiling expression, but everyone present felt their scalps tingle.

“Do you know what you did wrong?”

The bratty child was still trying to be tough and cursed, “This opera singer is shameless! Bullying a child! Aaaah! It hurts!” Fei Xiangnan applied more pressure. It would definitely cause an injury if this continued, but what was that little bit of money? If President Fei dared to do it, he could afford the treatment.

“Speak properly. Otherwise, big brother here can make it so you can never chew chocolate again in your life.” Look! What a gangster-like response. His old husband was so domineering!

After the stick, Xiao Fang had to use the carrot. You couldn’t just keep pressuring him, right?

“Come, come, tell big brother what you did wrong,” Xiao Fang asked with a smile. After this, whenever the bratty child saw Xiao Fang’s smile on TV, he would never be able to look at it straight again. It was the smile of a demon!

“I… I shouldn’t have cursed at you!” the bratty child sobbed intermittently.

Xiao Fang shook his head and said sternly, “It can’t be just those five words. Be specific. Big brother will give you a template. ‘I shouldn’t have called what’s-his-name what-and-what,’ and then say, ‘I’m sorry, big brother,’ and also ask your mommy and daddy if what you said was right. I see your mommy and daddy are probably very busy and don’t have time to teach you. Big brother will help you do it all in one go now. Let’s start. If you don’t say it well, big brother can’t guarantee you’ll be able to chew chocolate for the rest of your life. Come on, one, two, three~”

Liu Qian’s face changed as she listened from the side. Xiao Fang was truly a ruthless character to come up with such an idea.

The bratty child’s parents’ faces were as black as the bottom of a pot, but they couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

    “I… I shouldn’t have called big brother a bastard. I’m sorry, big brother. Mommy, Daddy, was what I said… was what I said right? I… I shouldn’t have…”

“Hey, wait! Your mommy and daddy haven’t spoken yet. Are you reciting a text for me?”

Fei Xiangnan looked up at the couple.

“Right, right, Yi Yi is right,” the woman said, her expression on the verge of tears. Xiao Fang looked kindly at the man.

“Right, he’s right,” the man said, his fists clenched tightly.

Xiao Fang nodded in satisfaction. “Come on, Yi Yi, continue.”

“I… I shouldn’t have… called big brother an idiot. I’m sorry, big brother. Mommy, Daddy, was what I said right?”

    “Right, right, he’s right.”

    “…Right!”

“I… I shouldn’t have said big brother is an opera singer and a terrible actor. I’m sorry, big brother. Mommy, Daddy, was what I said right?”

    “Right.”

    “……….Right!”

Fei Yishan came down to check on the situation and couldn’t help but laugh out loud when she saw this scene. What kind of bizarre ritual was this?

The man’s face turned even uglier. He shot a fierce glare at Fei Yishan. Fei Yishan had never been afraid of him and wouldn’t even give him any face. She snorted, picked up a banana from the table, and sat with her mother to watch the show. She hadn’t expected Xiao Fang to be so playful. She had had enough of that bratty child. She had kept quiet before because of her mother’s good relationship with her aunt, but now she didn’t need to hold back anymore.

“I shouldn’t have… I shouldn’t have splashed big brother with the bubble solution. I’m sorry, big brother. Mommy, Daddy, was what I said right?”

“Right, right, right,” the woman couldn’t help but cry.

“…Right,” the man was now completely powerless.

Fei Yishan took a picture of the scene and immediately sent it to Little Bean Sprout with the caption: Satisfying!

Fei Xiangnan finally let go. The boy immediately threw himself into his mother’s arms and burst into loud sobs.

    “Keep crying…”

Just as Fei Xiangnan was about to threaten him, a noise came from the door. Zhang Yuliu and Fei Tao had just returned from outside. Seeing her nephew crying like this, Zhang Yuliu didn’t react for a moment.

“What’s wrong? Who bullied Yi Yi?” Zhang Yuliu only had one brother, and that brother only had one son. Of course, she doted on him. She immediately put on a mother-hen-protecting-her-chick stance.

“Auntie, we were just educating Yi Yi a little. I didn’t expect him to be so unteachable. Didn’t big brother just teach you that cursing is bad? Why are you crying again now? Do you feel too guilty?” Xiao Fang asked with a smile. Zhang Yuliu was a sharp woman and immediately guessed what had happened.

    “You!”

“Does Auntie have any better ideas?” Xiao Fang wasn’t afraid of a direct confrontation, his beautiful eyes looking over.

Fei Tao, standing behind her, felt his breath catch. He felt that Xiao Fang had become even more alluring after giving birth. Those eyes were simply… Fei Tao’s throat felt a little dry.

Of course, Zhang Yuliu couldn’t just express her own opinions. She turned and hugged her husband’s thigh. “Honey, Yi Yi is my only nephew. How could you…”

“Are you blind? It was obviously your nephew’s lack of manners that caused this, and you even dragged me down with you to be embarrassed. Is there something wrong with your brain?” The thigh that Zhang Yuliu and her brother relied on had this attitude, and all their arrogance vanished. Fei Tao stormed into a room by himself, leaving the three of them unable to cause any more trouble.

The huge living room was filled only with the sound of the bratty child’s crying.

Fei Xiangnan was getting annoyed. He asked calmly, “Still crying?”

The next second, the world seemed to fall silent.

It seemed this education was truly a great success. Xiao Fang revealed a fatherly smile.
