Chapter Index

This was still a special world.

The worldview was modern, yet it wasn’t an ordinary modern world.

It was a world composed of several special groups: werewolves, the Blood-kin, witches, and ordinary humans.

A thousand years ago, humans were constantly oppressed by werewolves and the Blood-kin.

The Blood-kin considered themselves noble and elegant, while werewolves were bloodthirsty and ferocious. Both treated humans as livestock to be raised.

The former needed humans for their blood, while the latter preyed on humans for sustenance.

As the two races at the top of the food chain, the Blood-kin and werewolves never ceased their battle for absolute dominance.

The two sides fought viciously and endlessly, greatly depleting each other’s strength.

Humans, who had been recuperating, gradually rose up and began a large-scale retaliation.

The populations of the two major races plummeted, and humanity achieved a decisive victory.

The cunning Blood-kin began to hide their traits, disguising themselves as ordinary humans to blend into human society.

The werewolves, on the other hand, were hunted and slaughtered on a massive scale by humans, who treated them as beasts.

The defeated werewolves took their clans and left. With the help of witches, they established a magic barrier, cutting off all contact with the human world.

Although the original host was a werewolf, he had been born prematurely and was always very frail. He was unable to transform into a human and suffered constant bullying from other young werewolves.

Once, while playing hide-and-seek, he was deliberately abandoned by the other young werewolves. While trying to find his way home, he accidentally left the magic barrier and entered the human world.

He was rescued by a three-year-old girl named Su Jiaxue.

The girl mistook him for an ordinary wild dog and took him home.

They lived together for three years. As the original host grew larger, Su Jiaxue’s family began to suspect he was a wolf, not a dog. While Su Jiaxue was at school, they tricked him into the forest, intending to kill him.

Shot by a hunting rifle, the original host fled wounded into the forest, where he was saved by a witch living in seclusion and sent back to the werewolf world.

But he never forgot the kind little girl and longed to return to the human world.

Upon reaching adulthood, the original host resolutely decided to abandon his family and homeland, setting out alone to find his first love in the human world.

He was lucky, quickly finding Su Jiaxue, who was just starting college, and saving her from being harassed by thugs.

The two quickly fell in love.

After they confirmed their relationship, the original host confessed that he was not an ordinary human but a werewolf—the “puppy” she had saved years ago.

The kind-hearted girl did not leave him because of this; instead, she calmly accepted his identity.

He worked hard to hide his werewolf traits and integrate into human society.

After a four-year-long romance, Su Jiaxue discovered she was pregnant shortly after graduating from college, and they decided to get married.

Because werewolves and humans have different ways of life, the original host, ignorant of the human world, could only take on the most arduous and physically demanding jobs that required no intellect.

Su Jiaxue’s parents looked down on this poor boy and staunchly opposed their marriage.

Su Jiaxue’s heart ached for the original host, who had given up everything for her. She loved him and was willing to give up everything for him too.

The two decided to elope that very night.

Su Jiaxue’s parents sent a large number of guards after them. Coincidentally, it was the night of the full moon, and she had no choice but to take the original host, who was forced to transform into a wolf, to a small town to hide.

On the night of the full moon, werewolves lose their reason and go into heat. After a night of chaos, the sobered original host saw the woman he had ravaged and was overcome with guilt.

Su Jiaxue knew the original host was deeply troubled by his werewolf identity. She went to the roadside, picked some wildflowers, changed into a white dress, and took him to a church, intending to prove something to him with her actions.

She loved him, regardless of anything else.

Even if their races were different, even if their marriage had no one’s blessing.

She was willing to marry him and become his wife.

She, he, and their child would one day form the happiest of families!

Unfortunately, their hopes were destined to be shattered.

Just as they were walking hand in hand toward the statue of Jesus, a man wearing a bamboo hat that obscured his face suddenly burst in.

The original host sensed danger from him.

He shielded his wife behind him, intending to leave nonchalantly.

But the man suddenly attacked, and the two engaged in a fierce battle.

However, the opponent was far too strong.

Even after transforming into a wolf, his combat prowess was no match for the other’s. He was defeated within a few moves.

Lying in a pool of his own blood, the original host, clinging to his last breath, watched as the man in the bamboo hat walked step by step toward his wife.

The man violated his wife, bit his wife, and finally, ripped out her heart, devouring it bite by bite right in front of him!

The dying original host finally learned the man’s identity—a vampire!

But what good did knowing do?

In the end, he could only die slowly, filled with unwillingness and hatred.

“So… I arrived just before the original host died?!”

After absorbing the original host’s memories, Shuang Yu remained silent for a long time before asking speechlessly.

[Yes, Lord. The original host’s wish is to find the mastermind who killed him, his wife, and his child, and kill them to avenge his wife and child! Because there is no target, there is no resentment value in this world. Finding and killing the culprit will complete the mission!]

    Xiao Ai replied.

    Shuang Yu was speechless.

Having no resentment value was a hundred times harder than having one.

In other worlds, he at least had a target to deal with.

In this world, he didn’t even know the other party’s name or what they looked like!

There were so many vampires in this world; how the hell was he supposed to know which one was the culprit who killed the original host and his family.

He couldn’t possibly kill every vampire in this world, could he?!

So, the man who was rambling in his ear before he passed out was the culprit?

If so, why didn’t the man kill him?!

    Shuang Yu’s confusion deepened.

He was about to ask Xiao Ai.

[Um… that is… because of a small glitch… I arrived later than you did, Lord… so I don’t know what happened to you before…]

    Xiao Ai stammered.

    Shuang Yu was speechless.

He must have been truly insane to have any expectations of it.

    Creak—

The church door was pushed open.

The priest, arriving for his morning prayers, entered.

What greeted him was the sight of a female corpse with her heart ripped out lying on the floor, and a muscular man with his back to him, his hands covered in blood.

    “M-murder…”

The priest let out a terrified scream. The Holy Bible in his hands fell to the ground as he shrieked and ran back outside without a second glance.

    Not good!

Shuang Yu’s pupils constricted. He understood that he had been mistaken for the killer.

If he were caught, he’d be definitively framed as the murderer!

He hesitated, glancing at Su Jiaxue’s body, but ultimately chose to hide first.

This small town had a small population, and outsiders were rare.

Compared to his human form, his wolf form was more convenient for hiding.

Without any hesitation, Shuang Yu transformed into a wolf and swiftly leaped out the window to escape.

Soon, the church was cordoned off with police tape. Not long after, Su Jiaxue’s body was covered with a white sheet and carried out.

Shuang Yu hid in the bushes, silently murmuring an apology before quickly turning and leaving.

[The original host and Su Jiaxue eloped. Now that Su Jiaxue is dead and you’ve disappeared, even if you leave, you’ll probably be wanted soon…]

    Xiao Ai reminded him.

Shuang Yu naturally understood the stakes.

Humans now had no idea that vampires and werewolves existed; they were considered legends.

If he stayed, he wouldn’t be able to defend himself; no one would believe him.

Staying would only lead to four outcomes: rotting in jail, spending his life in a mental institution, being sent to a dissection lab, or being sent to a zoo!

He didn’t want any of those options, so he could only leave first and figure out a plan later!
