Chapter Index

He didn’t dare stay in the small town.

Without any hesitation, Shuang Yu set off on the highway leading away from it.

The worldview of this world was vastly different from what he was familiar with.

Both the culture and geography were more akin to a foreign country.

The human population was small, and the land was vast and sparsely populated.

The central cities were fine, but the small towns were not only sparsely populated, but the distances between them were also very large.

It was somewhat similar to the setting of a bloody horror movie filmed abroad.

On the wide road, you could walk for an hour without seeing a single car, let alone another person.

It was noon, when the sun was at its most intense.

Shuang Yu walked with his tail drooping and his tongue lolling out, moving with tiny steps like an old dog.

The indescribable hunger in his stomach was driving him mad.

What puzzled him was that he had secretly snatched a baguette from a vendor’s stall before leaving town and eaten it less than an hour ago!

There were too many suspicious things about him. He knew something was wrong with his body, but he didn’t know what exactly.

When he arrived, the original host was on the brink of death.

Logically, although he had survived, his injuries should have been severe, the kind that would prevent him from walking for at least ten days to half a month.

But when he woke up, the wounds on his body had miraculously disappeared. Apart from some weakness, he wasn’t missing any limbs or organs.

And this weakness was worsening with the passage of time.

It was as if… he had turned into a newborn puppy.

His four paws were so weak that he started to wobble as he walked, like a toddler learning to take its first steps.

Shuang Yu had originally been walking along the edge of the highway.

As he walked, he didn’t even realize when he had drifted into the middle of the road.

He was too hungry, and too tired.

A wave of dizziness washed over him. He staggered forward a couple more steps and then collapsed to the ground with a thud.

The scorching sun seemed to want to absorb all the moisture from the ground. The asphalt road, baked by the sun, was hot and scalding, like being trapped in a steamer.

Time ticked by, second by second.

It was hard to say whether Shuang Yu was lucky or unlucky.

Forty minutes passed, and not a single car drove by.

Although he had avoided being flattened into a meat patty.

If this continued, he would die from dehydration and heatstroke.

Not far from the town, an extended Rolls-Royce Phantom was parked on the side of the highway.

An elderly man in a black tailcoat anxiously looked around.

Before long, a tall, slender woman dressed as a hottie walked slowly toward him across the lawn.

It was unclear whether she had twisted her ankle or was just not used to wearing high heels, but she walked with a limp, her movements quite comical.

When the old man saw her, he was moved to tears.

As she got closer, her appearance became clear.

It had to be said, her figure was absolutely stunning. Her long legs seemed to go on forever, slender and straight.

Above them was a waist you could encircle with one hand.

She wasn’t scrawny; she actually had a six-pack and an Apollo’s Belt!

Compared to the perfection of her lower body, her flat chest and overly broad shoulders were truly nothing to look at.

Further up was a face that could topple nations.

Her beauty was androgynous. She seemed to be of mixed blood, with very rare violet eyes, a very high-bridged nose, and deep-set features.

If one had to describe it, she had a somewhat masculine beauty, the kind that was strikingly handsome.

On her head was an expensive, golden, wavy wig.

Seeing the old man, the beauty offered a smile as warm as a spring breeze. The beads of sweat on her forehead and nose didn’t make her look disheveled but added a different kind of allure.

“Thank you for your hard work, Wang Bo. I’m sorry to have made you come all this way…”

This was what you call a shocking reveal.

    This was it.

If anyone else had been around, their jaws would have dropped.

For a beautiful woman, this woman’s voice was far too deep, far too masculine…

“You are the one who has worked hard. Please, get in the car. I have prepared clothes for you.”

The old man, his face full of heartache, wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes and quickly opened the car door for him.

The woman smiled and nodded, bending slightly to get into the car.

It had to be said, his etiquette and upbringing were truly perfect.

Most people, exhausted as they were, would have just flopped down.

But after getting into the car, the woman remained seated upright and proper.

He first unscrewed a bottle of chilled mineral water and took a few small sips.

Once the heat had dissipated a little, he let out a slow breath, removed the realistic wig, and placed it neatly on the adjacent seat.

His short black hair was revealed. He ran a hand through it before unhurriedly proceeding to the next step.

The high heels came off and were put away, followed by the cropped camisole and the short denim hot pants.

Looking down, he saw the last piece of equipment on his body, and his pupils couldn’t help but constrict again.

    It was a… leopard-print T-back!

If anyone had been spying, they would have immediately thrown away their binoculars.

Damn it, the hottie turning into a handsome man was the epitome of absurdity!

The man unhurriedly picked up one of the sets of clothes the old man had placed aside and slowly put it on.

Then he took out the prepared makeup remover wipes and quickly removed the heavy makeup from his face.

In a flash, he had transformed from a sexy hottie into a suave man in a suit!

    Knock, knock—

After changing his clothes, the man knocked on the car window.

Only then did the old man get in and start the car.

“While I was gone, did anything go wrong at the company?”

The man kneaded the bridge of his nose, his voice tinged with exhaustion.

“Everything is fine… You’ve had a hard time. That girl, Chu Yan, actually ran so far…”

The old man glanced at him in the rearview mirror and said with a complicated expression.

“It’s fine. At least she didn’t leave the country.”

Chu Yuan chuckled softly and said mildly.

The two were busy chatting and didn’t notice the large black creature in the middle of the highway.

The old man shifted his gaze from the rearview mirror and belatedly noticed the black lump in the middle of the road.

His pupils contracted violently. He quickly turned the steering wheel while slamming his foot on the brake.

    Screech—

The tires screeched against the asphalt, leaving four black skid marks.

The highway had no guardrails, and the car shot straight into the oncoming lane, its rear end swinging out as if drifting.

Fortunately, since there were no cars or people, it didn’t cause an accident.

Chu Yuan in the back wasn’t so lucky. He was thrown into a heap, tumbling onto the back seat.

“Young Master Chu Yuan, are you alright!”

    The old man asked hurriedly.

    “What happened?”

    Chu Yuan’s voice remained gentle.

“There’s a big fellow in the middle of the road!”

As his voice fell, they both looked at the culprit that had nearly caused them to crash.

It was a furry black mass, its pure black fur glossy and bright, though slightly matted with dust, making it look a bit pathetic.

The animal, which resembled an Alaskan Malamute, lay motionless, and it was unclear whether it had been run over or something else had happened.

    “I’ll go take a look.”

Chu Yuan sighed softly, his eyes filled with worry as he opened the car door and got out.

The old man also hurried out of the car, clearly accustomed to his young master’s “kindness.”
