Chapter Index

“So hungry you’d eat anything, even thinking of devouring me?”

In the empty bathroom, Chu Yuan’s overly deep and husky chuckle echoed.

His long, slender hand slowly covered the spot over Shuang Yu’s heart.

    Thump-thump-thump-thump—

His cool fingertips were separated from his heart by only a thin layer of flesh and blood.

That subtle sense of danger made all the fur on Shuang Yu’s body stand on end in an instant.

“Oh, your fur is all puffed up.”

Another overly hoarse, low chuckle, his handsome phoenix eyes brimming with amusement.

Shuang Yu abruptly came to his senses, his heart filled with suspicion and uncertainty, but his body subconsciously began to shake the water off.

Water flew from his fur like a small downpour.

Chu Yuan, who was already soaked, laughed heartily.

“My mistake. Just endure it a little longer, Little Cutie. Accompany your master for a soak.”

He lovingly ruffled Shuang Yu’s head, gently moved him aside, stood up, and began to unbutton his drenched shirt.

The hunger in his stomach had subsided a lot.

Having regained his sanity, Shuang Yu once again lay lazily on the floor, enjoying the sight of the handsome man undressing.

Chu Yuan’s figure was quite good.

But it wasn’t the muscular type he liked; in fact, it was a bit thin.

His waist was too narrow, and he didn’t have the big pectoral muscles he favored. He’d rather look at himself.

Quickly losing interest, Shuang Yu lazily averted his gaze.

Chu Yuan, who had been secretly observing his every move, clicked his tongue. Little Cutie… was he disgusted by his figure?

He shook his head helplessly and bent down to pick him up.

Shuang Yu, having regained his strength, had no desire for any more physical contact with him.

He arrogantly flicked his hand away with his tail, stood up majestically, and jumped into the bathtub.

    Very cool, very handsome.

But the handsomeness didn’t last more than three seconds.

Enveloped by the hot water, he couldn’t help but stick out his tongue in comfort the next second.

    His silly appearance was irresistible.

    So cute.

He was a little reluctant to part with it.

    Perhaps…

He should keep it for a few more days?

A hint of reluctance flashed in Chu Yuan’s eyes. He chuckled softly, stepped into the bathtub, and sat down beside Shuang Yu.

“Your fur looks healthy, and you seem well-nourished. Why did you collapse on the highway? Were you abandoned by your previous owner?”

He rested his chin on the edge of the bathtub, just like him, and asked curiously.

His words made Shuang Yu think of the tragically deceased Su Jiaxue, and a deep sorrow flashed in his green eyes.

He didn’t know how far this place was from Su Jiaxue’s city. For both emotional and logical reasons, he should attend her funeral…

Seeing the pain in his eyes, Chu Yuan raised his hand and ruffled his head.

“It’s okay. You have me now, Little Cutie.”

Shuang Yu was noncommittal about his words, continuing to soak with his tongue out, too lazy to bother with him.

“Ignoring me? That’s not polite, Little Cutie…”

Chu Yuan narrowed his eyes dangerously and reached out to pinch his protruding tongue.

The latter immediately scratched at him with his paw.

He reacted quickly, retracting his hand and laughing as he stroked his head, repeatedly saying he had a bad temper.

The man and wolf soaked for nearly half an hour.

It wasn’t until Shuang Yu impatiently pretended to bite his neck that Chu Yuan finally got up.

This time, he was the first to step out of the bathtub.

His somewhat sickly pale but strong and powerful back was fully displayed before Shuang Yu.

And it made his wolfish eyes shrink abruptly.

On his shoulder blades were several glaring scratch marks.

The wounds had already healed, leaving only a few faint marks.

But one could tell at a glance that he was the one who had scratched them!

Shuang Yu, who had faint memories of last night, found his breathing suddenly quickening.

    This fucking…

To find something by chance after searching for it high and low?!

The enemy he was looking for was right in front of him!

Chu Yuan didn’t notice anything unusual about him. Thinking he was just hungry, he quickened his pace and walked into the shower to wash his hair.

Behind him, that pair of deep green wolf eyes followed him like a shadow, a piercing gaze on his back!

If it were the original host, he probably would have charged forward and fought him to the death, regardless of the cost.

But Shuang Yu was not the original host; he had a brain.

He couldn’t be certain if the other person was the murderer, nor was he sure if he was a vampire.

Even if he was, his current physical condition wouldn’t allow him to kill the other party in one blow.

After all, the opponent before him was a king-level being who had defeated the original host, who possessed the abilities of a wolf king, in just a few moves.

There were too many things he couldn’t figure out.

Shuang Yu’s thoughts were in a bit of a turmoil.

If the other party was last night’s murderer, why did he act as if he didn’t know him at all and even bring him back?

If he wasn’t, then how could the scratch marks on his back be explained?

Could it just be a coincidence?

After careful consideration, Shuang Yu decided to suppress his murderous intent and bide his time, observing the other party closely.

If he really was a vampire, he would expose himself sooner or later.

After all, no matter how well a vampire disguised himself, he couldn’t go without drinking blood.

Just like humans eating, blood was the food they relied on for survival.

After showering and changing into pajamas, Chu Yuan led Shuang Yu out of the bedroom.

He used a large towel to dry his wet body and then used a hairdryer to dry his fur.

By the time the man and wolf went downstairs for a late-night snack, nearly an hour and a half had passed.

Wang Bo brought the food to the table.

On the table were extremely delicious steak and red wine.

Under the table, dog food and clean water were already prepared.

Shuang Yu didn’t even glance at the dog food on the floor. He jumped directly onto a chair, pawed at the table, and stretched his head out to grab a fragrant piece of steak.

    Wang Bo’s brow furrowed.

“It’s fine. He must be very hungry. Have Mrs. Wang make a few more portions.”

Chu Yuan smiled good-naturedly and said.

    “Yes, Young Master Chu Yuan.”

The moment Wang Bo turned around, a clattering sound was heard.

Turning back, his brow furrowed once more.

The wine glass had tipped over, spilling red wine all over the table.

Only then did Shuang Yu confirm that what was in the glass was red wine, not blood!

He feigned innocence, blinking his puppy-dog eyes at Wang Bo, and extended his tongue to lick the wine on the table.

“This dog has no manners. It needs to be taught properly.”

Wang Bo said with a grave expression.

“Then I’ll have to trouble you, Wang Bo.”

Chu Yuan wasn’t angry. Instead, he patted Shuang Yu’s head with a doting expression.

“You little glutton, dogs can’t drink alcohol…”

Nini, standing in the corner like a background prop, looked disdainfully at the creature that was either a wolf or a dog, snorted coldly, and muttered under her breath.

“What’s the point of teaching it? It won’t live for more than a few days anyway.”
