Chapter 27 – The Simp is Forcibly Loved by the Overbearing CEO 27
“Uncle Shuang Yu, draw with Nannan…”
After entering the hospital room, Nannan hugged Shuang Yu’s leg and acted cute. He smiled and patted her head, then took her hand and walked towards the children’s play mat. Taking off his shoes, the big one and the little one lay on the mat, took out colored crayons, and began to doodle on a white piece of cardstock.
Feng Yan once again saw a side of Shuang Yu he had never known. He was very patient and gentle when dealing with children.
“Does President Feng also find it magical?” Wu Hongyu asked with a light laugh as he handed over a cup of hot tea, looking at the large and small figures in the distance.
Feng Yan nodded.
“It’s not just you who finds it magical. Even after being by President Bai’s side for so many years, this is the first time I’ve seen Shuang Yu like this,” Wu Hongyu sighed with a warm smile.
The Bai father and son did not get along. Having been by Bai Rong’s side for so many years, he was well aware of Bai Rong’s helplessness. His son was disobedient, unfilial, and constantly causing trouble outside, which had sent Bai Rong to the hospital out of anger several times. Whenever he was drunk, Bai Rong would always cry and say that he had failed his son, that he was the one who had turned him into what he was today. He would always reminisce about his son who was sensible, obedient, and filial when he was little. To be honest, at that time, Bai Shuangyu’s terrible image was so deeply ingrained that Wu Hongyu couldn’t even imagine him becoming a good person. He never thought he would live to see the day Young Master Bai would change for the better.
After his daughter’s accident, he was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. It was Young Master Bai who gave him leave to stay by his daughter’s side. It was also Young Master Bai who made the decision to transfer his daughter to this expensive private hospital at his own expense. His income was considered high, but he couldn’t afford this kind of single VIP room that cost over ten thousand a day. He was truly grateful to Bai Shuangyu!
Nannan became engrossed in her drawing. Seeing that she could finish the rest on her own, Shuang Yu got up and sat down on the sofa, asking, “Brother Wu, have you heard back from the research institute?”
Nannan and Yan Qianqian’s mother, Chen Dongyun, suffered from the same genetic blood disease. It was a very rare case that had only appeared in recent years. Currently, there was no specific treatment for it. It was only heard that a research institute abroad was conducting research in this area. The institute would recruit patients with this type of genetic disease within a certain range. Selected patients could receive free treatment, and the institute would continue to improve the drugs by observing these cases. Such an opportunity was extremely rare. Although getting into the institute didn’t guarantee a one hundred percent cure, it was better than doing nothing and waiting for death. There were at least a hundred cases worldwide, but less than a tenth could be selected. The chances were too slim.
“I’ve been trying to contact them, but there’s still no news… I’m afraid the hope is not great…” Wu Hongyu’s eyes filled with sorrow as he mentioned Nannan’s condition.
His wife had fallen ill from anxiety. Although the couple had already prepared for the worst, the thought of their lovely daughter leaving this world soon was truly painful for them.
“Pardon my asking, but what illness does the little girl have? And which research institute are you applying to?” Feng Yan, who had been listening silently to their conversation, asked at an opportune moment.
Wu Hongyu knew he shouldn’t trouble others, but he still wanted to grasp even the slightest glimmer of hope. The Feng family was rich and powerful; perhaps he had connections. “It’s a very rare genetic blood disease. Currently, only one institution abroad is researching it, the Bain Research Institute!”
Hearing his words, Feng Yan raised an eyebrow and looked at Shuang Yu with a beaming smile. “What a coincidence. I’m an investor in this research institute. Due to funding issues, they are indeed quite strict with admissions. But since I’m a shareholder, it’s not a problem to add one more person with just a word from me.”
Shuang Yu was speechless. He had a feeling this was a trap. But it seemed… he had no choice.
Thud.
Wu Hongyu immediately knelt down and kowtowed to Feng Yan. “I beg you, President Feng, please help me… I’m willing to work like a horse and ox to repay your great kindness!”
Feng Yan didn’t even glance at him, his gaze fixed intently on Shuang Yu. The life and death of others had nothing to do with him. All he wanted was him!
“Daddy, don’t cry! Bad guy, you can’t bully my daddy!” Nannan, who was still drawing, heard Wu Hongyu’s cries and ran over, stumbling. She protectively shielded Wu Hongyu behind her and glared fiercely at Feng Yan. She was very scared, her body trembling and tears welling up in her eyes, but she did not back down.
“Do you think… I should help, Yu?” Feng Yan asked with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
“I must ask President Feng to help Brother Wu, for my sake,” Shuang Yu sighed and pleaded.
The latter suddenly leaned in close, his thin lips brushing against his ear, his hot breath fanning across his sensitive skin. “Then… what can you give me?”
“As long as you want it and I have it, and it doesn’t violate my principles,” Shuang Yu replied indifferently.
Murder and arson were definitely out of the question. As for anything else, it didn’t matter. He wouldn’t be staying in this world for too long anyway.
“Remember your promise.” Feng Yan smiled brilliantly and got up to make a call.
“Thank you, Shuang Yu…” Wu Hongyu was a smart man. He knew very well that the price for Feng Yan’s help was Shuang Yu.
“You’re welcome, Brother Wu. I see you as a brother, and Nannan is like my own niece. I couldn’t possibly stand by and do nothing,” Shuang Yu said, patting his shoulder comfortingly.
“He-he won’t make an overly excessive demand, will he?”
“At most… he probably just covets my body. It doesn’t matter. With our looks and figures, he’s clearly the one getting the short end of the stick. By the way, Brother Wu, there’s something else I need your help with.” His tone shifted, and a solemn look flashed in his eyes.
“Just say the word. Even if it’s murder or arson, I’ll definitely do it for you!” Wu Hongyu nodded vigorously, his eyes red.
Shuang Yu’s thin lips curved up, and he whispered his request to him. Soon, Feng Yan returned from his call.
“A researcher from there will contact you soon. You can go abroad in a week at most. Get your paperwork ready as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, President Feng, thank you!” Wu Hongyu excitedly went to call his wife.

“Uncle Shuang Yu, this is the picture Nannan drew. Is it pretty?” Nannan handed her crayon drawing to Shuang Yu.
The drawing depicted her family of three: a blue sky, white clouds, a fiery red sun, and two stick figures holding hands with a smaller stick figure, strolling on a green lawn.
“It’s beautiful. Nannan could be an artist when she grows up,” Shuang Yu praised generously.
“It’s hideous. I could draw better with my toes,” Feng Yan sneered from the side, once again competing with a child for attention.
He hated bratty kids. Because Shuang Yu was gentlest with bratty kids! Nannan was so angry her eyes welled up with tears, but she magnanimously chose not to stoop to his level.
“You’re a bad guy, but thank you anyway. Thank you for being willing to help Nannan… If Nannan died, Mommy and Daddy would be very sad. Thank you for letting Nannan continue to be with Mommy and Daddy. This… is a thank-you gift!” Her eyes were red as she awkwardly handed over the drawing she had made for Feng Yan and Shuang Yu.
On the white cardstock, two stick figures held hands, enclosed within a red heart. To accentuate the characters, Nannan had even painstakingly drawn the large logo from Shuang Yu’s jacket.
Feng Yan studied the abstract drawing in his hand and raised an eyebrow. It seemed that this little ghost wasn’t so annoying after all…
