Chapter Index

Lin Ganzhi felt the person behind him linger for a few seconds, then heard the sound of footsteps turning and leaving.

Lin Ganzhi let out a sigh of relief. He struggled to flush the toilet again. After confirming there was nothing left in his stomach, he slid down to sit by the toilet. The dense, twisting pain made Lin Ganzhi’s face grow even paler.

Before he could rest, the footsteps returned. Lin Ganzhi quickly covered the toilet and struggled to spray some air freshener, but the person arrived before he could finish.

Lin Ganzhi awkwardly held the air freshener, half-leaning against the sink. He was so nervous he didn’t know where to put his hands, his eyes anxiously darting towards Yan Shengping and the water he was holding.

Yan Shengping walked in with a blank expression and took the air freshener from Lin Ganzhi’s hand.

    “Are you done throwing up?”

“Mm,” Lin Ganzhi nodded obediently. His pale skin had a fragile, glass-like quality.

Yan Shengping extended a hand. “Hold on, I’ll help you out.”

His tone held an unprecedented gentleness.

A hint of unnaturalness appeared in Lin Ganzhi’s eyes. It was only natural for him to be good to his boss, but for his boss to be good to him was truly overwhelming. However, thinking of Yan Shengping’s incredibly proud personality, if he refused now, he would probably never eat dinner again.

With that thought, Lin Ganzhi obediently extended his hand and held onto Yan Shengping’s arm. “Thank you, ol—Yan Shengping.” Lin Ganzhi was so nervous he almost bit his tongue.

Yan Shengping gave a subtle “mm” and led Lin Ganzhi out.

At first, Lin Ganzhi was still acting, but later, he was leaning his entire body against Yan Shengping. Because the stomach pain was so severe, Lin Ganzhi didn’t even notice that the hand around his waist was trembling slightly.

Right now, all Lin Ganzhi could think about was getting a full body check-up at the hospital once he recovered from this illness.

Above all else, his own life was the most important!

As soon as he sat down, Yan Shengping handed him a glass of warm water. “I just asked Uncle Yan to contact a doctor. Drink some warm water and lie down for a bit.” Yan Shengping blinked unnaturally and added, “The doctor will be here soon.”

Lin Ganzhi frowned as he drank the water. Why did that sentence sound like he was coaxing a child?

“Ganzhi, Mr. Yan is here too. I just contacted the doctor,” Uncle Yan said as he walked in, looking at the pale Lin Ganzhi with a pained expression.

After Lin Ganzhi carefully drank a large glass of water under Yan Shengping’s gaze, Uncle Yan immediately took the glass from him. Under their combined hot and cold stares, Lin Ganzhi obediently lay down. So scary~

“What did he eat just now?” Yan Shengping turned his head to ask Uncle Yan.

Lin Ganzhi: !!! Is he so angry that he’s skipping over me directly?

Uncle Yan hesitated for a moment. “Um, spicy crayfish.”

    Yan Shengping’s brow furrowed.

Only then did Uncle Yan remember that Mr. Yan had never come into contact with such things. “Um, that is, spicy crawfish.”

Yan Shengping didn’t understand. It was just crawfish, how could it be so serious? Hadn’t Lin Ganzhi eaten plenty of different kinds of seafood at home? He had eaten almost every edible type from the seafood family.

“Two and a half kilograms,” Uncle Yan added, twisting the knife.

Lin Ganzhi’s old face turned red.

The atmosphere in the room instantly dropped to freezing point.

“Heh.” After a long moment, Yan Shengping let out a cold laugh.

Lin Ganzhi trembled under the covers. So scary!!!

Until the doctor came, gave Lin Ganzhi some medicine, and put him on an IV drip, Yan Shengping had zero communication with him.

“It’s probably because he ate very light food for the past few days and then suddenly had something heavy and spicy. A normal person’s stomach would not be able to handle it. If he eats something light for the next few days, it shouldn’t be a big problem. Mr. Yan, have you finished your medicine? By my calculations, it should be about time.”

“I haven’t finished it. I’ll get more next time,” Yan Shengping said as he stood up, his sharp features veiled with a layer of coolness.

“Doctor Zhang, please prescribe some for him. He’s almost out,” Lin Ganzhi’s head popped out from under the covers. After taking the painkiller, Lin Ganzhi’s symptoms had improved a lot. He now had the energy to reveal half of his pink-haired head, a small tuft of hair sticking up as he made his request to the doctor.

“You still have the energy to worry about me now?” Yan Shengping said sarcastically.

Doctor Zhang was caught in the middle, unsure of what to do.

When it came to Yan Shengping’s health, Lin Ganzhi’s courage immediately returned. He boldly replied, “Don’t make me worry.”

Yan Shengping’s fingertips curled. “I’ll return that sentence to you, exactly as you said it.”

Seeing that the young couple had something to say, Uncle Yan immediately took his old friend’s arm and led him out. “Just prescribe the medicine and leave it with me.”

Doctor Zhang was happy to be rescued from the crossfire and quickly followed Uncle Yan out to take refuge.

The room returned to silence. Lin Ganzhi looked up at Yan Shengping, who looked like he was about to leave.

Lin Ganzhi gathered his thoughts for ten seconds and then slowly said, “In the future, when I go out, I will definitely prioritize my own safety and not make you worry.”

“You’re not going to show off your divine power anymore?” Yan Shengping lifted his eyelids, his tone softening considerably.

He would show it off, but definitely in a place where you can’t see. Lin Ganzhi had a rebellious thought for three seconds, then nodded insincerely.

Yan Shengping’s expression finally improved. But before Lin Ganzhi could breathe a sigh of relief, he spoke again. “From now on, you are forbidden from eating two and a half kilograms of spicy crayfish at once.”

    Sob~

“If you get stomach problems, there will be even fewer things you can eat,” Yan Shengping added.

Lin Ganzhi didn’t say anything. Of course, he knew that. If he got stomach problems, he wouldn’t have the chance to try many delicious foods. That heart-wrenching pain, Yan Shengping was enduring it all alone.

Yan Shengping saw that Lin Ganzhi had gone quiet and was about to leave.

“Then I’ll make you more delicious food in the future, within the limits of what your stomach can handle,” Lin Ganzhi said, his eyes shining as he looked at Yan Shengping without blinking.

Why are you randomly discharging electricity, you little foolish fox.

Of course, Yan Shengping would never say this out loud.

“Oh, then wait until you get better.”

Lin Ganzhi readily agreed, but he never expected that this illness would bring him such a painful price.

That night, Uncle Yan cooked a bowl of century egg and lean pork porridge for him. Lin Ganzhi found it quite delicious.

The next day’s breakfast was radish and pork rib soup with lean pork porridge. Lin Ganzhi’s expression was strained.

At noon, the table was laden with stir-fried pork with chili, mapo tofu, cuttlefish soup, kelp and pork rib soup, and blanched pork slices.

The first two were Uncle Yan’s. The last three were for him and Yan Shengping.

While Yan Shengping was looking up to drink his soup, Lin Ganzhi’s chopsticks flew towards the stir-fried pork with chili. Just as he was about to grab a chili, the bowl quietly moved back five centimeters.

When Lin Ganzhi tried to make another move, Yan Shengping’s icy gaze fell upon him, looking at him as if he were a traitor.

Uncle Yan also smiled awkwardly. “Ganzhi, why don’t you eat something light this week?”

    Sob~

He had just eaten bland, watery food for a week on the island!

But the boss was sitting here, he didn’t dare to disobey!

After the meal, Uncle Yan, perhaps to compensate for Lin Ganzhi’s stomach, cut a large and plentiful fruit platter. Lin Ganzhi resentfully stuffed a large mouthful of orange into his mouth, once again turning his mouth into the shape of a hamster’s.

Yan Shengping glanced over out of the corner of his eye, feeling a little pleased. But in the next second, when Lin Ganzhi bent down to pick up the remote control to change the channel, a sliver of white, flawless waist was exposed. In an instant, he was the one who became flustered.

When Lin Ganzhi looked up, he found Yan Shengping tilting his head, looking at the small vegetable seedlings outside through the glass, the tips of his ears strangely red.

Lin Ganzhi thought for three seconds, then heavily patted Yan Shengping’s shoulder and said earnestly, “Just wait a little longer. Our seedlings still need another two months. We can’t be this thirsty.”

“Your language teacher must have made you copy a lot of vocabulary words.”

Lin Ganzhi looked shocked. “How did you know?”

Yan Shengping chuckled and pushed away Lin Ganzhi’s paw. “It’s obvious.”

Lin Ganzhi: Although I don’t quite understand, I feel like you don’t have good intentions in your words.

When the emotional drama went to a commercial break, Lin Ganzhi stuffed another half of a large orange into his mouth. His eating ability was not at all affected by last night’s stomachache. Just as he swallowed, his phone rang.

    It was Zhang Dianhuai.

    “Hello, Brother Zhang?”

“Lin Ganzhi, don’t you go online?” The voice on the other end of the phone was tinged with exhaustion and speechlessness. As a major agent with dozens of artists under him, how long had it been since he had to clean up this minor celebrity’s mess? The key was that the person himself had no intention of fighting back!

“What’s wrong?” Lin Ganzhi opened Weibo. The first trending topic: #LinGanzhi, FakeGoods#. The second: #ZhongJingyiOnceAgainPiggybackedByMinorCelebrity#

    ???

“Zhong Jingyi is quite idle,” Lin Ganzhi commented.

“I think you’re the one who’s too idle, so you don’t care about your status as an artist at all. What do you think?” Zhang Dianhuai gritted his teeth, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

    Hehe, that’s true.

Lin Ganzhi shyly buried his head. He couldn’t help it. His artist status was completely a side job now.

“Brother Zhang, don’t say that. I’m still very passionate about my work. Let me see what happened first.”

Lin Ganzhi clicked on the details. Inside was a nine-square photo grid. The first three pictures were of Zhong Jingyi wearing that black suit. The next few were screenshots from “Survive!”, with subtitles already added, showing the conversation between Lin Ganzhi and Wenren Yi.

[Just asking, since when can a minor celebrity like Lin Ganzhi piggyback on our Film Emperor?]

[He has the same one? That’s hilarious. Lin Ganzhi himself comes from an ordinary family. After marrying that loser Yan Shengping, he doesn’t have much money left. Where would he get the money to buy haute couture?]

[He’s obviously wearing a fake, and he still has the nerve to piggyback on our Yi.]

[I’ve been wanting to say this for a long time. He has no manners at all in the variety show, no respect for his seniors. He caught so many fish for himself and didn’t leave any for his seniors!]

[He’s just a monkey. My Yi isn’t a tree-climber, why would he need to pick so many coconuts?]

[Hahahaha, the comment above speaks my mind.]

[Yi looks absolutely beautiful in this outfit! Piggybacking minor celebrity, get lost!]

Lin Ganzhi looked at the comments with an indescribable expression.

Yan Shengping’s phone suddenly vibrated. When he looked down and clicked on the group that had sent the message,

[@all: Everyone, let’s have a meeting. Ganzhi is being slandered. If you have any strategies, report them quickly. First, a point of clarification: do not argue with Zhong Jingyi’s fans. Do not try to reason with idiots!!!]

    [Waiting for the Big Shot!]

[Waiting for the Big Shot +1!]

The Big Shot, Yan Shengping, looked at his phone with a calm expression, but his body quietly shifted to the side.
