Chapter Index

Before she could finish, Yan Qianqian suddenly realized something was wrong.

She snapped her head up to look at the crowd, then glanced down at herself.

The next second, a scream escaped her lips.

    “Don’t… don’t look…”

Her legs clamped together and her hands crossed over her chest, the fierce woman who had been cursing a moment ago transformed into a pitiful, helpless maiden.

Tears streamed down her face like broken strings of pearls, her tragic expression stirring feelings of pity.

Although Sheng Xiaoran hadn’t fallen in love with Yan Qianqian yet, his favorability score was already quite high.

Moreover, she was an artist from his company. With such a major incident, he, as the boss, couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

He quickly took off his suit jacket, walked over, and crouched down to cover her exposed body.

    “Wuwuwu, President Sheng…”

Yan Qianqian sobbed and threw herself into his arms, her voice filled with grievance.

    “Who is she?”

Li Yushu noticed the unusual relationship between the two and frowned as she asked someone nearby.

“Mrs. Feng, she’s an artist under Star Brilliance, just like me. She was President Sheng’s date tonight. Oh, Qianqian, how could you be so foolish? No matter how strong your desires are, you have to choose the right time and place. How could you do something so scandalous on such an important day?”

Gao Yiwen wouldn’t miss this opportunity, and she spoke up with direct mockery.

The crowd’s gazes toward Yan Qianqian were filled with derision. Some of the bolder ones had already taken out their phones and started recording.

    “No, I didn’t… I don’t like women… I don’t know why this happened, I’m innocent…”

Yan Qianqian sobbed, desperately trying to prove her innocence.

Among the crowd were several CEOs who had once made advances to sponsor Yan Qianqian. At the time, banking on Star Brilliance’s support, she had publicly humiliated them, firmly establishing her image as a chaste heroine.

These men had long held a grudge but hadn’t dared to act against her because of Sheng Xiaoran. Now, with such a rare opportunity, they certainly wouldn’t let it pass.

“I found it strange when you righteously rejected my investment back then. Turns out you’re into women.”

“If you’re going to be a whore, don’t pretend to be a saint. You’ve been caught in the act and you’re still shamelessly denying it. Is your nickname ‘Thick Skin’?”

“Tsk, Miss Yan, your taste is terrible. Your female lover is quite a letdown.”

At these words, the others instinctively looked at the female attendant who was still unconscious.

She had sharp, unpleasant features, and her heavy makeup couldn’t conceal the pockmarks on her face. Her makeup was also smudged, leaving her face a mottled mess.

This was an ugly woman Yan Qianqian had deliberately found to humiliate the original host.

Back then, the original host had been mocked for a long time for his ‘desperate’ choice.

And now, the same humiliating event that had happened to the original host was being replayed on Yan Qianqian herself.

[Ding! Vicious Ghost’s resentment -10. Current resentment: 90. Keep it up, Host. Once the resentment reaches zero, you can proceed with the soul deliverance!]

Xiao Ai’s voice sounded in Shuang Yu’s mind.

“I’m sorry, Auntie, for ruining your banquet. I believe there must be some misunderstanding here. Qianqian is not this kind of person.”

Sheng Xiaoran was getting a headache, but he had no choice but to speak up for Yan Qianqian.

He knew she was a person with a sense of propriety and wouldn’t mess around at such an important event. The only explanation was that someone who disliked her had set her up.

His cold, sharp eyes swept over everyone present, trying to identify the culprit.

After scanning the crowd, his gaze settled on Shuang Yu’s face.

The reason he singled him out was that this person’s reaction was completely different from everyone else’s.

He could read schadenfreude, contempt, pity, or curiosity in others’ eyes, but this person’s eyes held no emotion at all. They were so calm it was baffling.

Even if one were just watching a show, one would resonate with the characters and the plot.

But he was clearly present, yet he seemed out of place with everything around him, cold and detached, as if he were separated from this world.

“It was Bai Shuangyu… It must have been Bai Shuangyu who did this to me…”

Yan Qianqian’s words made Sheng Xiaoran stop staring at Shuang Yu.

He frowned slightly, wondering why she was so certain it was Bai Shuangyu’s doing.

He had heard about that nouveau riche’s obsession with her. As a man, he knew how men thought.

If Bai Shuangyu were really behind this, he wouldn’t have framed her; he would have forced himself on her. Why go to such great lengths just to ruin her reputation?

“Miss Yan, you can eat whatever you want, but you can’t just say whatever you want. We have no grievances between us. Why would I frame you?”

Shuang Yu spoke up at the right moment. He frowned slightly, as if genuinely puzzled as to why she would accuse him.

The moment Yan Qianqian saw him, she became extremely agitated. “It was you! Only a scoundrel like you would resort to such despicable methods! Your love for me turned to hate, so after I clearly rejected you, you used such a vicious method to frame me, wuwuwu…”

Instantly, everyone turned to look at Shuang Yu, their eyes filled with inquiry.

They recognized his face. Not long ago, his tacky displays of affection had put both him and Yan Qianqian in the headlines several times.

This nouveau riche simp and good-for-nothing had done many things that were both laughable and infuriating.

He had used a private jet to display a banner confessing his love, spent money to run advertisements all over City A, and booked out an entire fan meeting venue, causing Yan Qianqian’s fans to complain that they couldn’t buy tickets.

He thought it was romantic, but the entire city saw him as a joke.

It seemed plausible that this was something this good-for-nothing would do.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, this idiot. He should at least pick the right place for revenge. Causing trouble on the Feng family’s territory—did he want his family to go bankrupt?

“Miss Yan, I was indeed blind to have pursued you. Of course, you rejected me, and I gave up. We were supposed to go our separate ways, but you calling me a lowlife and accusing me of harming you is an insult to my character.

If you say I did it, then show me the proof. Otherwise, I’ll see you in court.”

There was not a trace of guilt in Shuang Yu’s eyes. His expression was clear as he spoke, his voice resounding.

    “She is the proof!”

Yan Qianqian pointed at the female attendant, who was slowly regaining consciousness, and said hatefully.

The awakened attendant shrieked again upon seeing so many people.

Sheng Xiaoran’s ears were about to explode. He barked coldly, “Shut up!”

The woman was frightened into silence, hastily covering her body and wailing.

“What happened between you and her? Who put you up to this?” Sheng Xiaoran questioned.

The woman looked bewildered, stammering and unable to explain why she was there.

“I… I remember I was helping in the kitchen… Why am I here?”

Shuang Yu, having secretly withdrawn his magic, smirked and stepped forward to question the woman.

    “Have you seen me before?”

The woman looked at him with surprise, then instinctively glanced at Yan Qianqian in Sheng Xiaoran’s arms.

Her guilty reaction baffled the crowd.

If she knew him, she knew him. If she didn’t, she didn’t. Why was she looking at Yan Qianqian?

Looking at it this way, it seemed more likely that Yan Qianqian had bribed her to do something to this Bai family good-for-nothing.
